PRIMARY ELECTION, SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 2012 .

Elections to be held: Presidential Preference ( Only voters affiliated with either the Democratic or Republican Party will be eligible to vote in the Preference Primary. )

• Ponchatoula Municipal Elections
• Mayor City of Ponchatoula (1 to be elected)
• Chief of Police City of Ponchatoula (1 to be elected)
   
• Independence Municipal Elections
• Mayor Town of Independence (1 to be elected)
• Aldermen Town of Independence (5 to be elected)
   
• Hospital Service District 2 Millage Proposition ( 5 mills ad valorem for 10 years - beginning in 2012)
   
• Fire Protection District 2 Millage Proposition (RENEWAL) ( 10 mill for 10 years - beginning in 2014 )
   
• Republican State Central Committee ( 73rd Representative Distict, Subdistrict "A" )
   
• Presidential Nominee Democratic Party (1 to be elected)
• Presidential Nominee Republican Party (1 to be elected)

Early Voting for the Primary Election will be offered at both Offices of the Registrar of Voters. [ Parish Courthouse in Amite at 110 N. Bay Street, and the Tangipahoa Parish Governmental Building at 15475 Club Deluxe Road in Hammond. ]

EARLY VOTING for the PRIMARY ELECTION will be daily ( from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ) ( except Sundays ) beginning Saturday, March 10, 2012 and ending Saturday, March 17, 2012.

GENERAL ELECTION, SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2012

Early Voting for the General Election will be offered at both Offices of the Registrar of Voters. [ Parish Courthouse in Amite and the Tangipahoa

Parish Governmental Building at 15475 Club Deluxe Road in Hammond. ]

EARLY VOTING for the GENERAL ELECTION will be daily ( from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ) ( except Sundays ) beginning Saturday, April 7, 2012 - and ending Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Please bring your picture I.D. with you to vote early or at the polls !

In the Presidential Preference, your Party Affiliation will be VERY IMPORTANT !

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 is the last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation or your address for the Primary Election on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

The Presidential Preference is a CLOSED PARTY PRIMARY. Voters registered as Republicans may only vote on Republican Party Candidates and voters registered as Democrats may only vote on Democratic Party Candidates. i.e. ONLY registered Republicans and registered Democrats will be eligible to vote in the Presidential Preference.

There will be many different ballot styles in the Primary Election. When you get to the voting machine, if you see something that you don't understand or don't see something that you were expecting, BEFORE PROCEDING WITH YOUR VOTING, notify the Deputy Registrar or Poll Commissioner !!
